They all tend to be Hessian backed with some also available with a felt backing (the modern version of foam backing).
Plus a range of fibres: 100% Wool. 80/20% Wool/Nylon (the most popular), Polypropylene, Zylon, Polyester and many more.
Wool content carpets do not track so much as Man-made but may be harder to keep clean. There are many grades of wool which determine the price. Man-made are generally stain resistant but may track more than wool. Many carry long guarantees against wear.
We carry a range of different underlays for use with hessian-backed carpets together with all other accessories.

VINYLS: Most vinyls are cushion-backed and loose laid to prepared sub-floors. The price determines the thickness of the wear layer, the almost invisible layer on top of the pattern. There are also solid vinyls in plain and safety floor varities which need to be fully adhered to carefully prepared sub-floors. This preparation is either thin plywood on wooden floors and latexing on solid floors.

LAMINATE WOOD FLOORING: Most Laminate sold is of click-fix consisting of Vinyl coated patterned MDF boarding. The other type in the real wood laminate on a soft wood lower layer. They are both fitted to a variety of underlays, from normal to waterproofed.

VINYL TILES: These come in a variety of designs and colours from Natural Stone to Wood finishes. They vary in size from the normal square tiles to strips designed to mimic wood laminate. They are especially popular in Kitchens and Bathrooms where Wood Laminated is not recommended due to the risk of expansion and damage from water spillage.

CARPET TILES: Carpet tiles are normally 50cm x 50cm square and are either loose laid or stuck down with a tacifier adhese for easy removal. They are available in both Domestic and Contract qualities.
